it-works-for-women-2010IT Works for Women returns to the Resource Opportunity Centre - C@P Site - Terence Bay.

IT Works for All Women will boost your confidence! This project offers a menu of free components to choose from — computer instruction, GED preparation and/or a build your own computer workshop.

This project is designed to strengthen your employment skills. The project provides sessions to women who are unemployed and not eligible for employment insurance, or employed but want to improve their skills for a better paying job. Participants may also be receiving social assistance.

“Women will enjoy a supportive environment,” said Deborah Currie, community facilitator for Western HRM. “I’m looking forward to providing computer classes at Terence Bay C@P Site, among other locations. We’ll cover basic computer skills and how to use email and the internet. If she wants to, a participant can also take more advanced classes in programs such as Excel and PowerPoint.”

Classes have already started in both Western and Eastern HRM and more classes are going to be added as women inquire or are referred to the program by community agencies, such as the Employment Resource Centres.

IT Works for All Women also offers sessions to help women prepare to write the GED. GED instructors will deliver workshops to small groups of four to six women. These workshops are offered 6 hours per week for 20 weeks in a community setting.

The goal of this project is to support women in their efforts to improve their skills and their employment opportunities. By working with a broad range of community organizations such as c@p sites, community and employment resource centres, IT Works for All Women plans to reach 175 women.

This project is sponsored by the WEE Society www.weesociety.ca and funded under the Canada -Nova Scotia Labour Market Agreement.

If you or someone you know are interested in participating in this program please contact Deborah Currie - Phone: 902-221-3451 or by email at: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
